"Ingredients:

- 1 cup of granulated sugar

- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

- 5-6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

- 1 sheet of puff pastry

- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Spray a 9-inch round baking dish with nonstick spray.

3. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the bottom of the dish and arrange the butter pieces on top.

4. Arrange the apple quarters, rounded side down, on top of the sugar and butter. Cut a few pieces of apple to fill in any large gaps.

5. Place the dish over medium heat on the stove. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until a caramel forms and the apples soften.

6. While the apples are cooking, roll out the puff pastry to a size slightly larger than the dish.

7. Once the apples have caramelized, remove the dish from heat and carefully cover the apples with the puff pastry, tucking the edges down into the dish.

8. Transfer the dish to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

9. Allow the tart to cool for 10-15 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.

10. Serve the tart warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
