- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced

- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 lb pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
Directions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
2. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the sausage with a slotted spoon and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Cook until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
4. Add the garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for another minute.
5. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, add the marinara sauce and stir to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine with the sausage and peppers. Sprinkle with the grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
7. Serve hot.
